The new wave in music goes by the name Ras Slick!
REGGAE, R&B AND DANCEHALL RECORDING ARTIST
Ras Slick is no stranger to the music industry. He started singing at the age of five as a soloist at church in Jamaica, which he attended every week with his mother. He attended Georges Plain Primary School and Frome Technical High School in Westmoreland, Jamaica, where he began to make a name for himself by singing in talent shows and concerts. The popularity he gained in school inspired him to go into the studio and start recording his first song, “Still Loving You.”
In addition to recording music, Ras Slick pursued a career in tourism entertainment as one of the Entertainment Managers at the Riu resorts in Jamaica. At the Riu, he organized and performed in concerts and shows for people from all over the world. He also began selling his CDs on the beach to thousands of people.
As people began to hear his music, Ras Slick started to receive recognition for his talent, and was invited to share the stage with top reggae artists such as Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Jah Cure, Aidonia, Lady Saw and Elephant Man.
Ras Slick was touched so greatly by and appreciative of the opportunities that were unfolding before him that he wrote and recorded the song “Life,” a reflection upon his life and a message about the importance of positivity. “Life” became a hit single on the radio stations in Jamaica and put him on the map as a true talent in the reggae community.
Ras Slick’s first solo album, “My Life,” has enjoyed many successes and is a testament to his extraordinary musical abilities, and provides a glimpse into his deep perspectives on life. The album can be purchased on iTunes and Amazon.com.
Ras Slick relocated to Washington, D.C. from Jamaica in 2011 and quickly made a name for himself in the U.S. He was voted the Best Male Vocalist of 2013 and 2014 at the DC Annual Reggae Music Awards.
Ras Slick recently released his second album, “Help: The EP” and is performing with his band, the Dutty Bus Crew.
